Expired roadworthiness test
One of the most searched violations in Italy, and one where the points table simply provides nothing — which we say rather than fill in.

In brief
Driving on an expired revisione
The Italian roadworthiness test is the «revisione», and driving a vehicle that has not been presented for it is charged under art. 80 co. 14. The corridor is from € 173 to € 694, with € 173 payable, and the article provides that the amount can be doubled where the omission has happened more than once.
The accessory consequence is administrative rather than personal: the vehicle is annotated as suspended from circulation until the test is passed. That annotation, not the money, is the part that strands a car — and it is why the sequence after this notice is book the test, pass it, and only then treat the vehicle as usable.
There is a heavier case in the same article for driving a vehicle already suspended pending the outcome of a test, with a much larger corridor and an administrative impound. Our data set does not carry those figures, so the page names the provision and does not print numbers it has not sourced.
The points table has no row for this article at all

How it works
How the test schedule works, and where our sources stop
Roadworthiness testing in Italy runs on an interval schedule keyed to the vehicle's first registration and to its category, and it is administered through authorised workshops and the Motorizzazione. Enforcement of the deadline is largely automated: the register knows the date, so a check that does not involve stopping the car can produce a notice.
The intervals themselves are outside the material this site was built from — our corpus is the sanctions side of the Codice, not the testing schedule — so we do not print a table of them. The authoritative record of when a specific vehicle is due is the vehicle register and the Portale dell'Automobilista, and for a hire or company vehicle it is the owner's responsibility rather than the driver's.
For a foreign-registered vehicle driven in Italy, the Italian revisione requirement is not the instrument that applies; a vehicle registered elsewhere is subject to its own state's roadworthiness regime. If you have received an Italian notice under art. 80 for a foreign-plated car, that is a mismatch worth raising in an appeal rather than paying quietly.
In detail
Paying it, and why the early reduction usually survives here
The payable figure is the corridor's floor and the window is 60 days from service. Because art. 80 co. 14 as it stands does not attach a suspension of the licence or confiscation of the vehicle to the basic case, the further 30% inside 5 days is generally available on this row — one of the places where it genuinely is, as against the many rows on this site where an accessory sanction rules it out.
Paying does not lift the annotation. The two are separate: the money closes the sanction, the test closes the suspension from circulation. Readers who pay and drive away on the assumption that the matter is finished are the ones who collect the second, heavier notice.
If the vehicle has been off the road and untested for a long period, the doubling for a repeated omission is the exposure to watch. It is written into art. 80 co. 14 itself, not applied as a separate penalty.
This amount, like every amount here, is bounded by a decree that is due

Background
Revisione, insurance and documents: three deadlines, three treatments
Readers file these three under the same mental drawer, and the Codice treats them very differently. The expired revisione sits at art. 80: from € 173 to € 694, no points, a block on the vehicle rather than the driver. Missing documents on board sit at art. 180 and are the lightest of the three, from € 42 to € 173, again with no row in the points table. For mopeds the same comma sets a lower corridor, from € 26 to € 102 — a moped rider should not read the general corridor as their own.
Insurance cover is a different matter again. Art. 193 punishes driving without the compulsory RC cover with from € 866 to € 3.464 and 5 points — the only one of the three that touches the licence, and a corridor an order of magnitude above the revisione's. A repeat within two years adds licence suspension and vehicle impoundment.
The logic behind the gap is consistent: the Codice weighs the risk circulation creates for OTHERS, not the forgetfulness. A document left at home creates no risk; an untested vehicle creates a potential risk on the vehicle itself; an uninsured vehicle shifts the damage onto whoever suffers it. The three figures follow that scale, not the order the deadlines land on a calendar.
